 DECIDING ON A SOLUTION

Fixing or getting rid of radon is known as Radon Remediation. The Radon Centre will provide you with

  • Experienced engineers
  • A track record of successful radon projects throughout Ireland.
  • The best professional and most up to date technical advice.

For the home owner the following might sound complicated, but we normally fix a home in 1 or 2 days and you’ll hardly know we’ve been there.

There are a number of relatively inexpensive and effective methods for reducing radon concentrations in buildings. These include:

  • Installing sumps under floors and blowing the radon gas out to the atmosphere.
  • Improving the ventilation in the building to prevent radon accumulation.
  • Pressurising the building in certain circumstances.
  • Re-testing afterwards is essential to ensure the radon has been succesfully reduced.

IS THERE MUCH DISRUPTION?

  • No, not normally.  Typically a domestic house can be completed in 1 or 2 days.
  • And a workplace of 1000m2 can typically be completed in under a week.
  • The Radon Centre will plan the work around your schedule and activities.
  • Our installation crews take pride in leaving your house or workplace as they find it.

IT IS ALSO EASY TO GET IT WRONG

  • The most appropriate method to use is determined by a number of factors including
    • the measured radon concentration,
    • the building size and structure,
    • and the living and working patterns of the people in the building.
  • Inappropriate installations can cause
    • increased radon levels,
    • noise problems,
    • rot in timber floors
    • and failure of radon fans to name but a few problems.
  • In the workplace we have often seen misinterpretation of an employer's legal obligations and/or misunderstanding of remediation methods lead to unnecessary works and costs.
  • It is important to get expert advice to determine the best method.
  • The Radon Centre works with clients to help minimise the cost of remediation work by ensuring that clients fully understand the choices available.
